NAICS-SIC Mapping

Note: Summary and Detail mapping for 2002 NAICS-SIC is based on change notes from CENSUS.GOV. Summary and Detail mapping for 2007 NAICS-SIC has been created by CDH based on the existing mapping and change notes.

Background
The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) was developed jointly by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico to provide new comparability in statistics about business activity across North America. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) system as defined by the US Department of Labor OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) has served as the structure for the collection, aggregation, presentation, and analysis of the US economy. NAICS has now replaced SIC Codes, as it allows for the identification of 1,170 industries compared to the 1,004 found in the SIC system. CDH provides you with a consolidated view of the SIC and NAICS information that is downloadable in easily readable and uploadable formats.
